U-TAAC: A Year in Review 2021-2022

It Started with a Realization…

Back in fall of 2022, my friends and I started U-TAAC. We realized that there wasn’t many clubs that :

  1. Discussed several topics within the disability community
  2. Created a community or safe space for members with various disabilities to share personal experiences and form friendships
  3. For those without a disability to enter the space to learn, ask questions and understand.

What We Aimed to Accomplish

The goals of the club is very simple. To foster conversation with the greater U of T community about disability issues and to spread awareness.

What We Have Done

We have done various events this past year from discussing inaccessibility in workplaces to what is Accessible Services.

The Future

We plan to push the conversation around disability issues further by inviting professors, and experts to our events as well as facilitating our relationships with disabilities clubs and councils across all campuses.

We also plan to create a more rich community by hosting more social events, and opportunities for students with disabilities to share their experiences on our website.
